Tasting Room Photos
Photos by Shane Anderson
All photography in our tasting room was shot by wildlife photographer and our first wine club member, Shane Anderson located in Central Connecticut.
This Northern Saw Whet Owl was shot in February of 2022. Saw Whet Owls are native to Connecticut and one of the smallest raptors. They tend to be about the size of a soft ball when fully mature.
This owl was not bothered at all by activity as a perch was chosen immediately over a popular walking trail where he would spend a lot of time dozing off.
It wasn't until a passing dog barking got his attention causing him to perk up and change his behavior. He remained steadfast where he was and never left before settling back in and going to sleep.

Bald Eagle
This Bald Eagle was shot in February of 2022 in Southwestern Connecticut. For a long time, Bald Eagles migrated away from our home state of Connecticut. Through conservation efforts largely along the Connecticut River, the population of nesting and reproducing Bald Eagles is on the rise and their sighting are far more common.
Shooting Bald Eagle's is always inspirational as the sight of them means so many things to different people. Their presence is a treat and to get to share space with them is a privilege. They often know of your presence before you do theirs.

RED TAIL HAWK
This Red Tail Hawk was one I didn't have to travel far to shoot.
While working in the yard in April of 2022, I noticed him perched in a tree. I had seen him before, usually as he would stay and then go after a brief stop.
This day he allowed me time to go grab my camera and set it up for a series of shots before he had enough and left in search of his next meal.

This Snowy Owl was shot in November of 2021 in Southern Connecticut*. Snowy Owls are migratory and are not native to Connecticut where he was shot. As a migratory species, they will sometimes travel in the winter as food sources become scarce.
When this migration happens, it can cause an eruption where we will be fortunate to be visited by multiple owls. This particular year, this was one of three or four Snowy Owls on one beach.
It's not unusual for there to be high visitor activity when we are fortunate enough to have these owls visit. The day this image was shot, it was raining and windy. I was there with one other photographer, and we spent a couple hours with this one owl as he was taking in the beach and the weather.
