Colchester Vineyard Wins Medals, shows off Connecticut Wine

COLCHESTER — Winemaking can be hard work, but Ruann Viljoen, Priam Vineyard’s winemaker and horticulturalist, thinks it’s worth it.

“When you receive accolades, it’s a morale boost for everyone,” he said.

Priam Vineyard of Colchester received three medals for its wines, including a gold medal, at the Ninth Annual New York International Wine Competition. The competition was in May, but Priam announced its awards on Oct. 3 in a press release.

Priam was also named the Connecticut Winery of the Year for the fourth consecutive year, according to the press release.
